Well it looks like better than 50 people have read your post and since no one else has responded I’ll give it a shot. Your question is a little vague so forgive me if the answer is not on the money. For general questions about Divx go to www.doom9.net. I believe there are 2 types of “Divx”, one is a codec utilizing mpg4 format and the other is some sort of pay per view DVD format. Assuming you were referring to the mpg4 compression codec, DivX allows the compression of a DVD originally in say mpg2 format and taking up several gig to be compressed into a much smaller mpg4 version often taking up less than 1 gig. This allows an entire movie to be recorded to one or two CDs. The proper name for the mpg4 codec is “DivX ;-)”. This is often shortened to “DivX” or “Divx”. They all mean the same thing. It takes several separate programs to convert a DVD movie to a DivX ;-) version on CD, all of which can be found on doom9.
Still assuming you were referring to DivX ;-) you can not play a DivX ;-) CD movie on a TV style DVD player. However in order to make the conversion in the first place you will be having a DVD/CD player in your computer and it (or any CD player) will play the DivX ;-) CD movie.
Sorry I can not be any help if you were referring to the Divx pay per view format.
