Hello, I just bought a new computer, and i'm having some problems with my graphic when playing some games. I got a ATI Radeon HD 7850 2GB with a Acer P223w monitor, and when im running games like BF3, Skyrim i get these strange horizontal lines, they are transparent lines going up and down on the screen. Strange thing is that when watching movies, surfing, there are no problems, same if i play older games like Diablo II. The problem only accurs when using VGA->DVI and its working fine when using HDMI Ive alrdy tryed updating drivers, changing resolution, refreshrate, everything. I even got my graphic card replaced and its still the same problem. Any ideas?

Thanks

The problem is with the VGA -> DVI converter.

You are taking an analog, low bandwidth signal, and converting it to a digital, high bandwidth signal. On most things, like movies you are only putting out 24fps, so the bandwidth is keeping up. However when you play new games, you are putting out a whole lot more data, and the converter is creating noise.

So the only thing i can do is to get a monitor with either DVI or HDMI output and skip my Acer P223w VGA monitor ?

Your monitor has DVI input. Just get a DVI Cable and go from the DVI on your card to teh DVI on your monitor.

I can't find any DVI ports on my monitor, i think there are 2 version of the P223w, one with DVI/VGA and one with only VGA, and ofcourse i got the one without DVI. But you are almost 100% that this is the issue im having ?

i agree with itzdanielp it is vga problem, you could try using a more expensive cable to avoid this kind of interference;
If you really don't have DVI or HDMI try another cable or buy another monitor if you can't live with that.
It is a very common issue using VGA cables/converters;
