I've got one 7870 OC in my PC at the moment, I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with 7870s in Crossfire, and what sort of performance I should be getting out of it (mainly BF3). I find at the moment at 1920x1080 on the Medium preset I'm getting around 60fps in multiplayer, but I want to aim for high/ultra.

More about : 7870oc crossfire

Generally when you drop 2 cards into xFire / SLI you get a little short of double the performance. My 560ti's in SLI put me around 54fps on Ultra at 1080, so I would expect quite a bit higher than that with those cards and your proc.

you want to unistall the video drivers and reinstall them.. trust me especially when you add another card.

It will definitely average over 60 FPS maxed out.

Yeah, in a perfect world 2 cards would be double of 1 card, but there is no such thing as 100% scalability.

Usually you can expect about 70 - 80% of an increase in performance.

I can guarantee that with them in XFire you will be able to play on Ultra at 1080 very well :)

Crossfire actually scales at 100% in everything but BF3.

None of these benchmarks show 100% scaling.

At 2650 x 1600 the scaling is the closest to 100%, usually above 90%

but at 1080 scaling is around 70 - 80%

Actually I would say that BF3 is one of the most optimized games out there. It fully utilizes everything your PC has to offer.

I agree with itzdanielp. With a 7870 crossfire you should be able to max out BF3 at 1080p and maintain a 60fps average. If I had to make a guess on the exact fps you would get I would say somewhere in the range of 60-80fps.

Well I was messing around with the settings and on the Ultra preset (minus AA deferred) I was getting 60+ FPS. Don't know whether it was the map size (Metro) compared to some of the really open maps or what. It's sort of tempting to save up and get another one and just blast through the FPS, and continue to do so for the next few years, but whether or not I can justify $359 for it is another question... All my other games run very well, just BF3 and Arma II.

The GTX 670 is showing really good results.Beats a 7950.I would execpt a price drop on the the 7870 with the GTX660.

Hopefully it's significant then haha I'll be very pleased if it drops to more around the $300 mark, but it probably won't go quite that low.
