I have an AMD HD 6950 but it can only drive a max. of 6 displays. I need to drive 8 displays. If I get another HD6950 and install it in crossover mode how many displays will it be able to drive?

Yes, that would be Eyefinity 6 x 2 = 12 displays.

Are you sure about this?? I read an article that said otherwise;
http://techgage.com/article/amd_radeon_hd_6950_hd_6970_...

They don't say how many I could run, just that 12 won't go.

"Before continuing, it's important to note that due to architecture limitations, running six monitors on both GPUs is not possible. For that, you'd need to purchase a DisplayPort hub and connect it to the first card. For three monitors, all can be run off of the top card without issue."
