I was on a gaming forum today and some guy had PC specs listed in his sig. He said he had a 3.6 P4EE and was running RDRAM on a 1066 FSB. Is there a chipset that does this? I thought the 1066 FSB chipsets from Intel only support DDR2. Does SiS, VIA or somebody else have a current chipset that used RDRAM?

Not that I know off. RDRAM did run at 1066 or 800 Mhz when it was released. Intel then reconized that RDRAM was too expensive and switched their platforms to DDR. There is no DDR2 memory that runs 1066 Mhz. The fastest DDR2 memory I have seen is 800. Must be a typo.

There is DDR2 that runs at 1066, it's just not exactly in retail yet (its been announced by at least two manufacturers). As for the RDRAM and EE, maybe he took one, put it in his i850 chipset and OCed it? Can't imagine it would work well, seeing as no i850 board OCs well and I doubt they would take an EE, but whatever.

Not only that, but to the thread starter: there was no 3.6EE.

Maxtor disgraces the six letters that make Matrox.

There is a 3.46EE but not 3.6 Vapor is correct about the DDR2 1066. Its a done deal but its not in the retail market yet. Seems like its more hype than anything. From what im reading the race for high clocks is taking a backseat for now so there would only be a handfull of CPU's that could even think about getting close to its potential.

The 3.46EE that is being phased out is running at a FSB of 1066. Check again and make sure you didnt miss a number.

Are you sure he didnt say that he was running a 3.6(660) at an FSB of 1066? That seems to be a big deal right now because the 600 series chips are the way to go if you are in that market. You can OC a 3.6(660) to the exact same clock as the 3.73EE with no problem. ITs alot cheaper than the $1000.00 EE plus you have 2 multipliers to play with instead of just one like the 3.73EE offers.

This is the guy's sig:

"P4 3.6EE | GeForce 6800OC | 2,048 MB RDRAM, 1,066 BUS mHz speed | Impressive?"

But it's a PC gaming forum on gamefaqs.com and most of the people over there are just full of BS. He was trying to give some other guy PC advice and I was amazed at the things he was saying. I wanted to call this guy a liar, but I wanted to make sure I was right first.

The number of "Will my PC handle this game?/What should I upgrade?" posts are truly amazing. It doesn't help if some lying idiot is over there dispensing worthless advice.

Im racking my brain but i cant think of anything the EE would stand for other than Extreme Edition and there is not a 3.6 EE. The ones that I know of are the 3.4, 3.46, and the 3.73. There are probably some older ones that I didnt mention but I have never heard of a 3.6 This guy must be full of crap. If you really want to trip him up, act like you need some advice and ask him some questions about his 3.6EE If hes tells lies in his answer then you can shut him up easy that way.

I dont know for sure about Intels Dual platforms the only 3.6 I found was a XEON but there werent any EE's after it.
