Hello,
I am currently considering purchasing the HP ZR2440 monitor for editing standard 16x9 standard and 1080 HD video.

The monitor is 1920x2000. Will this cause the image to stretch? Or will 1920x2000 monitor simply put bars on the top and bottom and not hurt resolution or stretch the image on the screen?

You can have the video run at its native resolution or you can stretch it to full screen.

its 1920x1200 and ya can tweek to show black bars so you get correct aspect ratio. since some programs will want to stretch it full messing with your preview

Yeah and 1920x1200 is actually 16:10. A little extra vertical real-estate than 16:9
