whats your budget, and how many watts is your power supply?. With the right power supply, you can run any card you want.

Because it is an old pc I really dont want to spend alot. I am going to buy a new pc at the end of the year or early next year. I don't know what the power supply watts are but I would just buy a new one to suite.
I guess I'd be willing to spend 200 to 300 on the power supply and the graphics card.

an AMD Radeon HD 6670 or GeForce GT 440 both only use PCI-E power, no other PSU connectors. I'm running a 6670 on a 380W PSU with a AMD Phenom II X4. I've seen people run them on lower (250W PSU) also. It runs BF3 on high settings at 1080p on my rig. Both cost around $100 for a decent one.

$100 sounds good to me. I think the minimum requirements for Diablo III is a GForce 7800.
I am a pc gaming noob so i'm assuming the 6670 is less than the 7800 ?
I'm not trying to be a jerk I really don't know anything about graphics cards.
thanks for all of your input

Ah, nope the 6670 is ALOT faster then the gforce 7800. its about equal to the 9800 GTX if that helps

But me personally, I would grab a 7750, they perform close to the 6750/6770s and use even less power than a 6670.

(you are comparing nvidias 5 year old line up to amds 1 year old line up, both are vastly different.

If you have enough money after the power supply + video card (please tell us what power supply you have, it might be an unneeded expense) you could get a vastly better proc + mobo + ram for around 200 (i'm thinking an i3 + 60 dollar mobo and 4g of DDR3 ram)

if not thats fine just be sure that the limiting factor in your performance is going to be that processor. (once you get the new GPU that is.)

according to this the Gforce 7800 is 5 tiers lower than a 6670, which is alot considering there are only 10 tiers between the 6670 and the 680: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-car...

If I found a new pc for around $500 I may buy it and upgrade the graphics and ram as needed.
Do you think I should just get a whole new system. I was going to wait towards the end of the year and get the next generation
pc.

I editted my previous message before I noticed you posted.

But what I would do is grab the card then if the performance upsets you that much I would build a new system (sans the graphics because what you have is sufficient)

What other games do you play? obviously a system that needs to run metro 2033 is gonna be different from a system that needs to run D3

Here is various benchmarks of how the card performs on low http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/diablo-iii-performa...

and heres high: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/diablo-iii-performa...

(note the card they list is a 6670 DDR3 and its quite a bit slower than the 6670 DDR5 and vastly slower than the 5770 (I would expect performance to be between the 6670 and 5770/6770))

I will probably only play diablo III on this pc.

Then yeah, treat it like a wait and see type of thing.

I think you will be just fine. Just to be sure what power supply do you have?

Even a phenom 2 dual core @ 2.0 GHZ handles the game maxed out just fine at 60+ fps

Yup, If you have any trouble or anything you need clearing up, we like to help :)

If the power supply is atleast 350w I'd say its no problem.
