I am looking to build an i5 system for gaming exclusively.

This is what i am thinking of buying so far:-

MOBO:- ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 £104

CPU:- Intel CPU Core i5 3570K Quad Core IvyBridge £178

CASE:- Corsair Carbide Series 500R £77
Or Cooler Master CM Storm Enforcer £60
PSU:- Corsair TX 750W V2 PSU - 80plus Bronze Certified £80

SSD:- OCZ Vertex 4 VTX4-25SAT3-128G 2.5" 128GB SATA III £100
Or SanDisk 120GB Extreme SSD £85

GPU:- Radeon HD 7870 £209

Still need to pick some RAM but not sure what type?

Will be O/Cing the CPU.

So far thats a total of £788, i need to try and stay under £850. I still require DVD burner.

If anyone can give me advice on where i can save money and/or my parts are incompatible/bottle necking.

Thanks in advance.

Get a samsung 830 128gb. very good SSD. Don't get a 7870 get a 7850, You can overclock the 7850 to the stock speeds of the 7870 no problem.

Get the Cm Storm enforcer. And for the PSU get the corsair GS700.
For Ram just get some Corsair Vengeance

I may want to in the future, does the other board not support xfire/sli

Expansion Slots
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
(The PCIEX16 slot conforms to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)
* For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.
* The PCI Express x16 slot supports up to PCI Express 2.0 standard when an Intel 32nm (Sandy Bridge) CPU is installed.

That would be better than the others. What games do you hope to play?
You would want a MSI card if your planning on overclocking and this card comes with the MSI afterburner so there will definitely be no compatibility issues with the software and the card.

Get one of these as well for the top. Have the one on top an exhaust, the one on the back with the cooler an exhaust and have the front an intake. When mounting the Water cooler make sure the fan that came with the cooler is mounted on the side of the radiator that is facing forward and blowing air back towards the back of the cooler and the fan that came with the case, if you can mount it, mount that fan on the backside of the radiator blowing air out the back for a push pull configuration

The only demanding things there are Battlefield 3, skyrim and i think guild wars 2 is pretty demanding.

I was actually going to get the corsair h100 with rectangle radiator panel and the 500r case (has better dust filters and side panel fan). I was going to mount h100 rad panel in the grille panel on the top of the case and have 2 fans bolt on the inside sucking air out of the case and into the rad panel. Remove one HDD cage from front to make space for front fan .

If and when I oc gpu, CPU and RAM I can add 2 more fans in the bottom where there's another dust filter. Hopefully this will provide adequate cooling by drawing air from the front and bottom across the case and expel through the top and back.

Only slight concern was whether the h100 and fans would fit in the top of the case but there is an article online where someone has installed with no problems or having to mod the case.

Easy peasy........hopefully.
