Old PC upgrade for Diablo 3

I have an old Core2Duo 6700 @ 2.66 Ghz with 4 Gigs of Ram and a Geforce 8800GT. I'm interested in upgrading the vid card so that Diablo 3 would run a bit smoother on 1680x1050. Any ideas on something that wont be super bottlenecked by the processor? This is for an extra rig to have available for LAN games so I'm not really looking to replace it with a new $1000 build :)

  1. Diablo 3 is not that demanding so, maybe something like 6850/460 would be a suitable upgrade. Note that it needs 1 6-Pin (2 for 460) PCI-E connector from your PSU and about 500W with 28A in the +12V rail is recommended.

  2. Thanks
  3. Get a HD6770 for $110. Apparantly, its better than a HD6850 for Diablo 3. And if your PSU can handle a 8800, you shouldnt have any problems.
  4. Pick up a new HD 6670 or a used 4850/4870

though it is interesting the 7xxx series wasn't bench.
  6. Well that doesn't make sense mate... Maybe a driver problem?
  7. Get Zotac GTX 550 Ti just $129
  8. Getting a GTX 550 would be dumb when you can get a HD 6770 for the same price and much better performance.
