Damage from booting without 4-pin ATX 12V????

I was troubleshooting problems with my system today and I forgot to plug the 4-pin ATX 12V to power the cpu when booting, does anyone know if this can cause damage to the cpu or system?

I have never tied it, but I doubt you hurt anything. The CPU just didn't get any power when you did that.
