AMD FX 4100

Hello everyone, 5 days before i built a rig and testing the CPU with prime95 somehow the temperature goes up to 68C (Stock Cooler) and after some minutes computer shut down itself. I didn't Overclocked it. I reinstalled the heatskink twice with thermal paste (Coolermaster V1 IC Value). No Good. Still it keep on shutting down.

AMD FX-4100
Asus M5A97 R2.0
Corsair XMS3 8gb - 1600mhz
PSU - Frontech 450w (Local brand)
Cooler master Elite 310 ( 2 x 120mm fans - 1 blowing out on rear and 1 blowing in on side)
Seagate 250GB

could be a faulty CPU cooler. Your best bet here would be to get a better cpu cooler like the hyper212

Your CPU is overheating and shutting the system down to protect itself. Spend a few bucks upgrading your cooler. You could also undervolt the CPU to get a few degrees down.

thanks jaideep1337 and m32 i planned to buy Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. But its currently out of stock in the local store, they asked me to wait for 2 days. One more doubt. Does a faulty PSU causes this problem? Coz i am using very 3-4 years old Frontech PSU.

either you have put a lot of thermal paste or it's the generic power supply that's causing this

edit: i've read that it has 19 amps on +12v rail, if so my advice is to get a good quality unit before it harms your pc components

ok just now i installed Corsair CX500w PSU. Temperature is constant on 65C let me post the results tomorrow

with the new psu are there any shuts downs?
regarding the temp if 65c on idle then thats high, if you added thermal paste on top of the one that comes with the cooler, you should clean all that on both cpu and cooler and add new paste
