I have a GTX 470 that I have been quite happy with for over a year. I game at 1920x1200 and even playing BF 3 on high quality it does very well. The one complaint I have is the noise. While gaming it sounds like I have a sweeper going.

Should I upgrade to a GTX 570 for $300 or should I get the GTX 670 for $400? I am thinking that the 670 may be overkill considering the low requirements games seem to have recently.

I want to play BF 3 on Ultra and have things a little quieter.

Solution
Yea GTX 470/480 are very noisy and run very hot and consume a lot of power, though they are great cards.

GTX 570 will be a minimal upgrade over your current GTX 470, you game @ 1200P this resolution requires a monster card to give you a good FPS in most current and demanding games.

GTX 670 sounds to be superb idea, it consumes less power, runs cooler, it's performance near GTX 680 and will be great at your resolution.

You had to SLI the top single card in the previous GTX 5000 series in order to play Metro 2033/Crysis 2 with good FPS @ ultra 1080P so the GTX 670 is just fine with these demanding games and Overkill for games like SC2,.....
