I have a dell optiplex gx620 small form factory and i am ready to buy a hd5450
My dell:

2.5 GB ram 3 x 512 ddr2 sdram 1x 1gb ddr2 sdram
intel pentium d 930 3.0GHz
80GB HDD
DVD ROM 5v 1.5A
Motherboard -------???????

now the problem is that i have a 275W power supply with 17A on 12V rails
and the amd recommend 400W with at least 30A
i want this video card for gaming even in low settings
i've seen some forums and there is W=A*V
275=A * 12
A=22.8

MY Power supply:

i don't understand this i have 17A or 22A
and can i support this video card (hd5450) even in full load?????

If not what video card do you recommend me for my system ????
i want it to play gta 4 or modern warfare 2 or other popular games.

You have 17A on the 12V rail. It will NOT support a 5450 that requires 400W and 30A. Windows may boot but as soon as you introduce any kind of load on the gpu, your system may crash. Why not just get a better psu? You can get a good 400W for less than $40. I think the difference is due to the low quality of an inefficient spu. My OCZ ZX Gold has a 105A 12V rail which is 105x12 = 1260W. The psu is listed as 1250W

I had the same graphics card on my hp dc7700 can't remember the size of the psu but I know it wasn't above 300 watts And I ran gta iv but with you're pc gta iv will not be playable with the lowest settings with this card

Guess that was silly to suggest a new power supply. Just try it and if it crashes then get a new case. Even a $50 dollar cheapy case is better than what you have now and they usually come with a cheap power supply.

I am not very familar with low end cards, sorry. The formula is correct. You will have to talk to Dell to find out why they only list the power supply as having a 17A rail. I am sure they have a reason for it.
