Hello. I want an upgrade from my radeon 6850. I originally was looking at the 7950. But I'm not sure my budget will allow it.

I really want the performance of a high end card like the 7950. But I'm not sure if it will fit into my budget. I am amongst the people who will be willing to pay 50 bucks for the 10% performance upgrade. But will I be able to max games out on a 7870 also I know that the 7870 overclocked. So does that mean it is equal to a 7950 reference. I also plan on crossfiring in the future. If thatinfo helps.

No the HD7870 can not get near a reference HD7950 when overclocked. But the HD7950 can easily surpass a HD7970 reference. The HD7950 is worth the extra few bucks.

It is one of the best price/performance cards available. But one important question, what resolution do you game at?

1080p I looked at some benchmarks and saw that the 7870 only about 2-7 frames more on average. usually only 5 more frams. I don't think that that is really worth it is it?

+1 to the Vapor - X i skip the 7870 myself i am to impressed with it.
