Hello, After watching numerous Day Z videos on youtube and becoming fascinated by it I thought I need to play. So I looked into buying a computer then thought of building, and heard building was cheaper and that this is the site to get help.

So if I had $1,000 what would be my best options for building a gaming pc fit to run ARMA II/Day Z smoothly and enjoyably?

I don't know much about building PCs (that's why I'm here) looking for suggestions and recomendations. Here is a build I thought looked good.

Vid/Card: EVGA GTX 570 (1280MB)
CPU: Intel i5-3570k CPU
Memory: 8GB 1600MHz Vengeance
Motherboard:ASRock Z77 Pro4
Power Supply: 650W Corsair PSU
HardDrive: 1TB WD 7200RPM 32MB Cache HDD
Optical Drive: Sony Optical Drive
Case: Corsair Carbide 500R

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

That's a great build already, I'd go with the Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 so have lost of options in terms of upgrading for the feature. I would go with the current generation cards as they're much more powerful and consume less power. :)

Yeah i.e. a HD7850 in your budget.

Yeah, my 7850 eats up Arma II Combined Operations at 1920*1080, highest settings on everything except for AA, I get around 60+ fps.

Not bad for a $260 card if you ask me. :p
