Hi, I'm trying to build a PC rig and I have yet to decide on a CPU. I want to try and get a CPU that can run games such as Battlefield 3 at an average speed. I am planning on getting the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=) with a XFX HD 6870. However I don't know if I should step up my CPU and get maybe an AMD FX-6300 six-core processor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286). Could someone please tell me whether the Phenom would be fine for a game such as Battlefield 3 or should I step up the CPU to FX??

Solution
The phenom runs bf3 pretty well but the 6300 will do better in multiplayer. I don't think its worth the money, you are better off spending the extra money upping the graphics card to a 7850 at least.

Ok so just a quick question, do you think this could run Battlefield 3 on High? (In the situation I buy the 7850 instead)
