hi guys im currently having a phenom II x2 unlocked + asrock n68 us3 and a 5670 , i want to buy a 7950 but i need to change the other first , so wich is better a i5 2500k + some board or i5 3570k + gigabyte ga-z77x-ud3h ( for the pcie-x 3.0 ) . Also i was wondering if the i5 can give me a fps increase in battlefield 3 multiplayer with the hd 5670 currently im playing with everything at low and no AA .

Also i have a hyper 212 plus and i want to overclocked to 4.4 or less for playing dolphin smoothly and have a nice frequency to daily use and no bottleneck with the next graphics card

Right now the i5 3570k is in alot of cases the best gaming cpu, but BF3 is very gpu reliant. Also you will of course need to change your mobo if (and when) you get a new cpu. The 7950 will run BF3 on max just fine, i would recommend at least a 7870 if you want to run BF3 pretty well for a bit cheaper. The 5670 is definitely outdated for a game like BF3 and i would recommend a for sure upgrade from that.

If lowering graphics settings increases your frame rates then your GPU needs upgrading more than your CPU does. Upgrading the CPU is not going to help your under-powered GPU much.

Upgrading to a Phenom II X4 and getting the beefiest GPU possible would give OP the most noticeable performance increase per $.

Get a phenom II x4. The i5s (And the whole i-series for that matter) are way overpriced. The 965 BE is only 25% slower than the 2500k, and it costs half the price.

It's really a LOT slower than that but it's still very good value.
