this is video of gtx 670 stock clocks vs gtx 680 stock clocks :)

will gtx 670 stock overlocked perform same as GTX 680 on stock clocks ?

and what is better to pick ?

gtx 670 stock overclocked will have 200 more mhz at memory clock but 16 less texture units and 192 less cuda cores then gtx 680 at stock clocks .... core clock will be same if 670 will be SOC :) )) so help me to choose witch to take

Why aren't you comparing an OC670 to an OC680?

It's an unfair comparison; if you are interested in OCing and you have the budget for the 680 then it only makes sense to go with the 680.

To answer your question; no the 670 will never out perform the 680. The 680 is in inherently more powerful due to the 670 having 1 out of 8 of the original bits lazered off. This would be noticed at high settings and high resolutions.

Yes the 670 OC will perform similar to a 680 not OC , but the 680 OC will beat the 670 OC or not.
Get the 670 OC and save some money , its performance is high enough for most peoples needs.

im not overclcker lol ... i sait stock overlocked vs stock clocks ;//////////

gtx 670 SOC costs 420$ when gtx 680 stock clocked costs 500$ .... if they will perform same then i will pick 670 for sure .... there is no reason to take gtx 680 only becuase it's 80$ more expensive ........
May 12, 2012 7:55:04 PM

monsta

that's waht im talking about ....if there ill be no difference then why take 680 ???

sure

the 680 OC will beat the 670 OC or not.

but 680 oc will cost 520$ ...... then we get same situation ... 100$ difference for 7% perfoermance ?

There is a difference but is it worth it?

Is the 680 OC worth the extra 100 bucks to you?

Go with the 670 OC and save the 100 bucks.

im tirled of waiting :( (( can anyone uplaod video with gtx 680 gameplay ?
May 13, 2012 8:16:24 PM

just get the 670... save the money .. buy a decent monitor... or save up for the 670 sli for future.. the price difference vs the performance diff means that the 60 is far superior value for money and honestly there is little that would tax a 670 today... and for future.. well use the saved up money for a second 670 :)

I don't know who told you that but it's a very decent company with one of the best warranty services in the world. They make quality products.

I'd suggest going with GTX 670 and saving some money.

EVGA is an excellent brand, they have good waranty, step up programs and good customer service.
I use EVGA cards a lot, and have never had any die. They are good quality , don't listen to them

So ill have it for you soon.
May 15, 2012 11:05:10 AM

darksalvatore if you're getting the 670 go for the regular one and save yourself the $20. you can easily overclock it yourself. i have a regular 680 myself and overclocked it further than the 680 FTW which costs $570. i saved myself $70 overclocking it myself.

I have an EVGA 680. This is my first build. I've heard really good things about EVGA.

Didn't you already buy a 7970 after a 3 week long discussion on whether to get the 7970 or the 680?
May 15, 2012 3:33:48 PM

yes but my mainboard was broken and i bought new .... but i won't buy amd cards anymore .... i got 30 fps in chopper on sharqi pensisuila on full ultra .......... and gpu usage was 99% ... so no ram or cpu bottleneck ... now im on gt 520 and i plan to buy gtx 670 soc

May 15, 2012 3:54:03 PM

I was suprised you bought the 7970. The overwhelming opinion was to get the gtx 680. Even at the seriously underclocked stock settings of the 7970, you should have been getting 50FPS at 1080. That number climbs quite a bit when you are in a chopper or a jet. If you only got 30 FPS in a chopper, you had some serious issues and you really shouldn't blame the 7970 for it unless it was faulty.
May 15, 2012 4:07:53 PM

my mainboard is on pci express 2.0 but as i know there is no bottleneck with it ..it was 16x slot ...i ran on windows 7 and 6gigs of ram 1333 mhz and i7 950 at stock clocks .... my friend gave me gtx 590 for osme time and i got like 45-50 fps in chooper ... i mean there can't be cpu or ram bottlenekc for sure ... i think it was because of drivers ...i even reistalled windows for clering ststem from nivida drivers .. but it was useless .... i got solid 50-60 fps when i was as infanti on strike at karkand for example .... but on chopper i got 30 fps with 7970 .... another problem with skyrim .... 40 -60 fps and 35 fps dips and gpu useage was 45% ;/ .. when i had 55-60 alltime on my old gtx 560 ti .... and i had 99% gpu useage .. seems like 7970 had some drivers problem ...

May 15, 2012 4:47:46 PM

Based on your problems, I don't blame you for not wanting to go with AMD. I do want to point out that I have used the same drivers as you and I can get between 50 and 60 FPS in Skyrim at 6048x1080 in Ultra with a single 7970 overclocked. Also, if you can get 50-60fps in bf3 as infantry in one map and you only get 30 fps in a chopper on another map then I think you can rule out drivers as your problem. I say just get the 670 and get back to gaming.

BTW, what version CCC were you using 12.3 or 12.4?
May 15, 2012 5:00:47 PM

alrobichaud

im not too strong in english but as i understand i had drivers problem as i though :)  yes i plan to get gtx 670 soc ... andi hope it will perform better then 7970 :)  and it will cost me even less .... 2gb vram on 1920x1080 is fine i think :)

wow we have clear winner :) )

i used 12.4 im 100% sure :)

May 15, 2012 5:49:39 PM

A bunch of people had an issue where 12.4 did not install correctly. There is a thread here on Tom's somewhere about it. Not sure what the issue was but it did not happen to everyone. I wonder if that is what your problem was? Too bad it had to happen with that driver when you bought your 7970. It is almost kind of comical since you appeared to be pro 680 on your other thread yet you still bought the 7970.
May 15, 2012 5:56:13 PM

alrobichaud

i jsut had a chance to buy 7970 very cheap and i sold t with benefit :)  so no problem with that ^^ yeah it was strange .... on caspian border when i face whole map with jet .. i had 40 fps drops and on karkand maps even 30 ;/ ......... on urban fights i had 45-80 fps .... it's okay but it renders a lot less details when you play on close ranges you know ....

i hope i will have 60-70 average fps on gtx 670 and like 45-50 dips only .... i really hope there won't be problem with performance ...
