So I'm about to order all the parts for my new build and was originally gonna get a 670, but after going over my budget, that would be pushing it and I still at least wanted to get bf3 after buying all the parts.
So my question is what kind of fps could I expect if i play bf3 on medium settings? I really don't see a point in playing ultra vs medium as it just looked like additional lighting and AA while at my friends house.

Well the price difference between the 670 and 7870 is roughly $40 depending on which model you go with of course - I know you stated you went over budget and at this point trying to shave off a few dollars helps. But specially for BF3 which favors Nvidia cards the 670 is a beast of a card and at least to me would justify the extra $40 +/-.

On that note, as far as my personal experience with the 7870, I get around 35-60fps depending on the map ( Back to Karkand maps yield lower FPS across the board) running on High with the exception of Textures set to Ultra, 2xMSAA, Anti-aliasing Post set to low, Motion blur off, Anisotropic Filter set to 4x and...

well i also own the 7870.. and personally i am kicking myself for not waiting for the 670....

And if BF3 670 (being an nvidia optimised game) is what you want.. well the answer is clear the 670
