The first gen CPUs have a 3 digit model number ( like the i3-530), the second gen i3s model number has 4 digits and starts with '2' as in second gen (like the i3- 2120) and the 3rd gen i3s have a 4 digit model number but their model numbers start with '3' as in 3rd gen (like the i3-3220).
