Hey community, I am considering upgrading my graphics card to a GeForce 670 GTX. But I'm wondering if my CPU would be able to run it with its current specs

The specs for my computer are

PSU- 350W but willing to upgrade if i can by the graphics card

Processor - Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.50 GHz

RAM- 6 GB

Motherboard- unknown but the CPU is a dell studio 540

You'll need a new psu. 550w+

and you can run the GTX 670 on your motherboard (it should have a PCI-E 2.0 slot on it) but it will take a small performance hit.

and your processor will be a huge bottleneck in that system.

The main thing is that can you fix the GTX 670 into your case. your case looks really small....

If you're going to drop the money on a 670, you should consider getting a case and PSU along with the GTX 670 for your other components.

Keep in mind however, because it is an OEM board you'll have to find an i/o shield that matches your mobo.

just measure the distance from the expansion slot to the HDD rack at the front of the pc and compare that distance with the length of the gpu that's on the website under specifications.

thanks i will try that.

I just had a crazy thought will my motherboard be able to upgrade to an i5 / i7 or do i have to just buy another computer so i won't get the bottlenecking from my current processor.

Your motherboard won't support i5/i7.

pretty much you'll have to buy a new computer. (or build one yourself cause it will be way easier to upgrade later on)
