Yes, and also its kind of overkill for that resolution.

What motherboard do you have? getting a phenom II quad core would be a very good idea if your motherboard supports it, and maybe drop the GPU down to something a little lower.

budget?

EDIT: assuming your mobo supports it:

and

about the same cost as a single 560ti, but overall much better performance. you even get a free game.

I would HIGHLY recommend upgrading your CPU first. it will be a bottleneck in almost any modern game.

Your mobo supports amd quads (even hex cores). get a cheap quad, like i linked, get a lower end GPU like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150576

50 bucks after rebate.

at that resolution, it will still play near highest settings in most games. and you will then have a system you can upgrade in the future.

How much did you pay for the CPU? it will be horrendously underpowered for most modern tasks.

what games do you plan on playing?
you mention GTA4 and BF3, and im fairly certain both will run horribly. they are both cpu dependent. GTA4 will run badly, but BF3 multiplayer will be nigh on unplayable.

really, i don't think you understand how weak that CPU is. Buying a more powerful GPU will just go to waste, cause the CPU will hold it back. Upgrading the CPU and buying a cheaper GPU will give you more overall performance for the same price, and then you have the option to upgrade in the future.

opf course, its your money to waste. but you asked the question for a reason. even if you don't like the answer, its still good advice.

Yes a 560 ti would handle Grand theft auto 4. But don't expect your computer to handle any future games very well. Athlon is a dieing series of CPU's and Phenom II is aging slowly. But a 560 ti would be perfect for GTA 4. at that retolution.

I think you are severely overestimating the athlon II. its a dual core with no L3 cache.

Both GTA4 and BF3 are CPU hogs that require lots of cores and lots of cache. I was completely unable to run GTA4 on my old Phenom dual core, that was heavily overclocked and it has L3 cache.
