Hi there,

Two machines (1 x PC & 1 x Laptop) set up exactly the same: WIN XP Prof,
SP2 with latest updates; Both computers are my own and connected with
each other through a wireless ADSL Router with WEP(?) activated and a
key which is asked to join the wireless network.
The only accounts set up on each machine, is Deon as Administrator with
no password. The name of the PC is Deon-pc and the name of the Laptop is
Deon-laptop.

Both have internet access without any problem.

My problem is that my PC can Access my Laptop's shared folder perfectly,
but my Laptop cannot get access to my PC. When I try to browse to the
PC's Shared folder from my Laptop, a screen pops up for my Username &
password.
I have tried to type in my Admin name without a password without any
success.

I have read numerous tutorials which people have suggested, but I cannot
get this solved.

I have run the Network Connection Wizard on both of the machines - no
success.

I am now at the stage where I am prepared to protect each username with
a password and I have downloaded and installed Tweak UI as some have
suggested.

I know the answer to my question might be something very small which I
have overlooked, so please help me out here.

Regards,

Deon

Try the same scenario again but with a password assigned to your account.

If you use any tools for autologon and aren't sure if they interact with a
change of user password in Control Panel> Users, update your password info
in those tools before restarting.

It's been a while since I've run a home network but I do remember having
this same problem. I seem to recall clicking on each hard drive icon on each
machine and selecting "Sharing and Security" from the righclick menu.

Hope that helps
