So here's my issue: I have a Soundblaster Audigy Value card, with which I've close to no problems in general and whose driver works properly.(I'm on a win7-64 bit box)
However in most games, I'm unable to hear the character's speech unless I turn to subtitles. Other sounds such as environmental sound effects work without issue. To fix this I need to download a tweak from Creative's website called Creative Alchemy and add each game's installation folder to its list. Its description says this:
Creative ALchemy restores hardware accelerated audio so that you can enjoy EAX effects and 3D Audio when playing DirectSound3D games in Vista and Win 7
I had this issue with GTA a couple years ago, Fallout New Vegas and now The Secret World. So its not game-specific. Might there be a permanent solution around that will fix it once and for all, so that I don't have to do this each time? I'm clueless with regards to the cause.. Also, this solution doesn't always work, with TSW it didnt for example.
