Hi. I just got a new Win7/64 machine and intended to move my old Sounblaster Xtreme Gamer sound card to it, which I did. It works with no real problem.
The only issue I can't resolve is the volume control. In XP, if I right-clicked on the speaker icon in the system tray, it would open a box with 2 boxes inside it: One box had bass and treble sliders, and the other had 7 sliders - one for each speaker's volume.
That was really nice because, being and audiophile, I was able to quickly trim each speaker to get the best sound. Now on Windows 7, that ability is gone. I have to go through multiple clicks through Control Panel to access that.
Having the ability to do that again in the System Tray would be nice but even a desktop shortcut would be nice. I just don't know how to create a link that points to an unknown .cpl
Getting to the SB volume control is Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound/Playback/Speakers/Properties/Levels/Balance
Getting to Tone is the same until the end where it is Properties/Tone
