A little information on the use of the computer. I will use it mostly for college work and software programming as my major is computer science, and the only games I play are minecraft and very few fps like battlefield or skyrim. The code I'm using is c++ so I'm making a lot of word processing applications. I know a lot about the hardware of a computer, but would still like someone else's opinions and suggestions. My budget for the desktop alone is $750. This doesnt include things like the monitor or OS or other accessories. I have a laptop I've been using for notes, games and coding, but i would like to have a stationary computer as well. If you have any comments or questions, they'd be greatly appreciated.

First of all, Skyrim isn't an FPS.

Now onward to the build itself...

Take a look at this. This build should give you all the power you need to do what you're asking. I'd say it is one beautiful build for $750. Now keep in mind, the prices will vary from the time I posted this. You can switch it up if you like and sacrifice a little gpu power for cpu power or vice versa. You may even tweak a few of the other components. In the time I spent searching for parts (about 5-10 minutes) I'd say this is a pretty sweet rig.

Should run Skyrim and BF3 at max settings at comfortable frame rates at 1080p res. You may even drop the settings to high and get better frames if the need arises.

Meh, no bid deal :)

You could also go with one of the AMD phenom IIs to save a little more money. They're a better processor than the FX series in my opinion. The FX line was sadly a big flop :(

If you can find a phenom ii x6 1100t for around $160, grab it! (or a 1090t at $150)
