Windows 8 driver for the Canon CanoScan 3000 does not exist. The scanner model is too old and Canon have decided not to support it beyond Windows Vista.

I was running the same scanner in Windows 7 Pro 64 bit up until the power brick died. I was using it in Windows XP mode. It worked great, just a bit of a pain to boot into scan, move the scan into Windows 7 and shutdown Windows XP. It's a great scanner and I refused to be forced into buying a new scanner just because there wasn't a driver for my new OS. That said, I don't have any experience with Windows 8, but I'm pretty sure that it doesn't have a Windows XP mode.
