My computer does not recognise my headset with microphone

Hello

My headset with microphone woks fine with Skype but I am unable to use it for interactive websites (languages)

I have a webcam which has an inbuilt microphone but I use the microphone on the headset for Skype because the webcam mike is not sensitive enough.

Can anyone help me to configure my system so that my microphone can be used for website based language tuition?
