I'm sure this has been asked about a thousand times over the past week, so sorry in advance.
My PC is a Dell Optiplex 790 SFF, Core i7-2600, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, GeForce 8400 GS 512 MB.
I literally just bought the 8400 GS about two weeks ago because I had just purchased the computer and realized I needed a low profile video card to get multi monitor support, and it was the least expensive card I could find that was both low profile and has multiple outputs.
I am not really interested in spending any more money on upgrading the GPU, so I was wondering if Diablo 3 will be playable with what I have now. I don't want to spend the money on it if it will be unplayable, and the demo won't be out for a month so I can't easily test it. I don't really care about cranking up the resolution or turning on all the special effects as long as I can get 20-30 FPS at a medium resolution like 1440x900 or 1680x1050 with what I have. So my question is if that is realistic?
Blizz list the minimum as a 7800 GT, but I don't know how that compares to an 8400 GS, and couldn't easily find a comparison between the two.
Thanks, I did see the post you linked to which said the game was not enjoyable, but he did not post any other system specs so I dont have a frame of reference to base that on. Is your 8800 GT a low profile card?
If you have a little time on your hands, you can look at that. Tom's recently did an article on how certain graphics cards perform in Diablo 3. Your card might be just a hair faster than the GT210 they have on that article.
