Budget Range: Around $500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Web Usage, Homework

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts not needed: CD drive, HDD

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg

Location: U.S.

Parts Preferences: None

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Additional Comments: Thoughts and advice is welcome. Also, if anyone notices a compatibility issue or if I need a larger PSU please tell. This will be my first PC build. I am doing it because I am interested in learning more about how computers and software work. Plus, I enjoy Gaming and need an upgrade from the current shared family computer.

My Newegg wishlist with my current build is here: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx...

Get an intel chip instead. The i3 is about the same price and will perform better.

Second, you could get a cheaper PSU (around 500w) and use the money to get a 6870.

Finally, I'd recommend a better RAM manufacturer like Samsung, Corsair, or GSkill. (In that order).

If I had the budget for an i5 I would go for it but currently I don't. I can however do an i3 2120.

Here's the Intel i3 build: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx...

And the processor/Mobo Combo:

Intel Core i3 2120 Sandy Bridge + Biostar TZ68K MOBO
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

If I choose to I can upgrade to an i5 or i7 in the future with the LGA 1155 socket luckily.

One Question. If the Radeon 6870 requires 2 6 pin power connectors, will one 6 pin and 1 6+2 pin work to power the card by simply leaving out the +2?

Thanks for the help guys btw.
