CM690 II Case

I'm collecting parts for a new PC.

i5-3570K
HD 7850 1G
Corsair Vengence 8G
Corsair|CMPSU-650TX 650W RT (On the Way, $50)
Asrock|Z77 Extreme4 (On the Way, $105)

What do you guys think about using this Cooler Master Case?

It looks fairly old with USB 2 but the USB2 doesn't concern me.

Is there anything else in the too old category or other drawbacks I should be concerned about?

The price after rebate is $50.

Thanks

My goal was to find a Black Friday deal with a good case marked down to around $50-60.
  3. I've got my build inside a CM690-II right now, and I agree that the Advanced version is worth the extra for the top HDD Dock. It's an older case, yes, but it's also built like a rock. Excellent quality, very large, with a lot of room to work with, and plenty of 3.5" bays. If you only need 1 or 2 hard drives, you can actually take out the bottom half of the hard drive rack and open up even more space. Nice cable management overall. Space for a dual radiator, if you ever feel the need. There is absolutely nothing 'too oudated' about it, unless you absolutely need USB 3.0, and 2.0 wouldnt work for whatever reason. I even think you can buy a 3.0 panel for it straight from CoolerMaster, but I could be wrong...

There's another very nice case, similar to the 690-II, although it is a little smaller; I would have bought it myself, had it actually existed when I built this rig. USB 3.0, I believe. Makes me feel old with my Phenom II and 790FX motherboard.

Both are relatively inexpensive, and I'd happily recommend either one of them.

Even Corsair has their own 'version' of this style of case. It's all up to personal preference, and what happens to go on sale.

    Happy shopping! :)

The max i can do is give u some 80-100$ cases that maybe can go down on BF .

1 of these 3 cases would be great if u can get them.

500R or Cm690 II are the real performance cases.

Cm 690 II and Phantom are the cool looking cases.

So its really up to you.

I got my case for 40$ on ebay and it was perfect. All fans are working / front panel too.
  5. Thanks for the ideas. I'll take a look at them tonight.

Just to calibrate, you my last case was on sale for $20 with a $20 rebate so it cost me about $10-15 for shipping. So my standards aren't exactly high. :)

I think when I was looking last night I found a USB 3 version of the 690 II and it was $40 more. Unless there's some other magic I don't new USB 3 that bad.

U can always add 3.0 on drive bays later :) Also the board will have on the back.. Not a problem

So 3.0 for 40$ its a big NO
  7. Oh crap. I just looked at this one listed in today's Newegg email. $90 after rebate and promo code.

It's really hard to evaluate cases when you can't get your hands on them.
  8. That's a good case too. And a great deal too. If u cant wait till BF get it. It is roomy and silent.

But im still with Corsair 500 R over it.

Or keep eyes on BF for a graphite 600 T

I really really like that case. It has a lot of space and its elegant.

Those look to be $130 and $140. Definitely out of my price range.

I'm concerned if I wait for BF and nothing else shows up the 690 may be back to it's higher price.
  10. Than u decide. U will have that case looking ati it everyday :)

So choose the one you like the most.

    Both are great cases

Thanks for your help, much appreciated!

The rebate on the 690 ends on the 21st so I'll have to decide by then.
