Im interested in building a gaming PC so i was just wondering before i buy the parts would it be worth taking apart a really old PC and rebuilding it just to see if i can do it?

No i don't mean to use the parts on my new system i mean to rebuild the old one just to see if i can?

Absolutely

read some building tutorials . Get some thermal paste , and disassemble your pc .
Take extra care of the cables to the hard drive if they are the old style 40 wire IDE ribbon cables . Bending them can damage them .

Experience can only help
