4gb x 4 vs 8 gb x 2 in z77( dual channel), which is better?

Can't decide on it. I know 4gb memory have lower latency but having 4 sticks in dual channel is really better than 2 sticks?

Ps: this is my first built.

2 sticks are better than 4

Many memory controllers run at their top rated speed with only to sticks , and default to lower speeds when you add 4
