Upgrade to a windows 8 compatible wireless card

I have a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6905 laptop running Vista with an Intel wifi link 5100AGN wireless card. I would like to update the operating system to Windows 8, but after a little bit of looking around online it looks like the wireless card is not compatible with Win8. I was wondering if it would be cheap and easy to upgrade to a compatible wireless card? Or is there a workaround to make it possible to use this wireless card with Win8? I would rather not put too much money into this laptop as it is already a few years old, would I just be better off sticking with Vista for the next 18 months and buying a new computer after school?
Thanks in advance

Run the driver in compatibility mode for windows vista.
