What is ECC RAM?

My motherboard doesnt support ECC ram.. what is it and what makes it different than regular pc133 SDRAM?

  3. Okay, I will give a short explanation then :)
    ECC "corrects errors" and is mainly used in servers or mission-critical machines. It's usually more expensive and actually cuts back on performance. If you're a gamer or home user, then non-ECC is the way to go.

  4. Normally more expensive, slower, and more accurate. Mostly used in servers and high end workstations for scientific calculations.

  5. ok cool... cause im running a game machine 1.2amd ath, and the mobo doesnt accept ECC.. so all i well.
