I was planning to upgrade my system but i found this 5850 really cheap with 9 months warranty

XFX HD 5850 1 GB
model-HD-585X-ZA
my crappy system
cpu - Dual core E 5700 3.00GHz
2 GB DDR2 ram(667 MHz)
17" LG Flatron LCD
resolution 1440X900
win 7 32 bit
Catalyst ver. 12.1
Thermaltake smartpower 550 watt modular psu
(I know my system is prehistoric )

Now the problem is I was using a HD 5570 1 GB ddr3 and after i changed my card i see no improvement in gaming. i am aware that my cpu and ram is extremely bottlenecking the gpu but shouldn't i be getting some improvements? i mean NFSHP 2010 does not require any high end cpu but i didn't get any visual improvements.
some other games show good improvements in fps but i expected more at this resolution and also there is no change in visuals

Here is some benchmarking I did with fraps

NFSHP everything high
race-Blacklisted
min 13 max 44 avg 26.697

NFS RUN everything high v-sync off
race limited edition challenge make track
Min Max Avg
25 32 29.81

race coastal challenge coastal rush
Min Max Avg
18 30 24.855

Crysis dx9 everything high level - reckoning near first jamming station
4X AA
Min Max Avg
17 75 41.229
2X AA
Min Max Avg
25 91 40.853

so is this normal or is there any other problem? i am thinking about oc'ing my cpu to reduce the lag and if that is possible how
much oc i need to get?
another thing is my psu has one 6+2 pin pci-e connector and a 8 pin pci-e connector. so i am using 4 pin to 6 pin adapter to connect one of the 6 pin slot of the card but all the 4 pin connectors are on a single cable and powered from a single source from the psu so is this going to be a problem?

i really hoped to see some improvements and i am really sad now so any help would be very much appreciated.
thanks in advance.

p.s: can you suggest a budge mobo, cpu for gaming. money is really a great problem for me so cannot afford anything over than the bare minimum and even that might be hard.

thanks for your reply.
my primary concern is about the performance issue with the vga card. so i need to know what i can do right now to solve this. i will think about cpu and mobo upgrade after i sort this out .

and also newegg is not an option for me.

i loved that black edition card! would still be using it if it hadn't died on me. lasted three years.

at a glance i'd say your cpu is the bottleneck, because there should've been a nice performance boost..

thanks for your response

i thought that too. so i am not going to get any improvement over the 5570 ? such a shame :(

and by the way mine is not the black edition. it is the one with core clock locked at 725 MHz
