Tags: CPUs Sandy Bridge Processors Compatibility Last response: November 21, 2012 10:23 PM in CPUs Share bbjeepen November 21, 2012 9:54:10 PM Newegg said my EVGA Z68 FTW 160-SB-E689-KR board only works with a Sandy bridge processor but I thought Intel made the Ivy Bridge backward compatible. Why cannot I purchase an Ivy Bridge process for this board More about : ivy bridge cpu backwards compatible | E-mail me updates | Report abuse Reply to bbjeepen Register or log in to remove socialfox CPUs Master November 21, 2012 10:12:58 PM I am assuming there is no bios update that supports the Ivy Bridge. That board supports Sandy bridge off the bat but not Ivy Bridge. | Report abuse Reply to socialfox jaguarskx CPUs Master November 21, 2012 10:14:43 PM It's backwards compatible as long as the manufacturer (EVGA) releases a BIOS for the motherboard so that it can recognized the Ivy Bridge CPU. | Report abuse Reply to jaguarskx jaguarskx CPUs Master November 21, 2012 10:19:07 PM By the way, do not post the same damn question in three different posts.
