Newegg said my EVGA Z68 FTW 160-SB-E689-KR board only works with a Sandy bridge processor but I thought Intel made the Ivy Bridge backward compatible. Why cannot I purchase an Ivy Bridge process for this board

I am assuming there is no bios update that supports the Ivy Bridge. That board supports Sandy bridge off the bat but not Ivy Bridge.

It's backwards compatible as long as the manufacturer (EVGA) releases a BIOS for the motherboard so that it can recognized the Ivy Bridge CPU.

By the way, do not post the same damn question in three different posts. That's called spamming and is frowned upon in any forum.

Just wanted to add, this is what caused me to assume there was no bios update released for Ivy bridge:
http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1770179&mpage=1

Also just checked the EVGA support site for that specific board and they make no reference to Ivy bridge at all...

Edit: That being said I believe the answer remains the same as said in these threads
