FX-8320 out of box compatibility

Hello, everyone.

Will a GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ work out of the box with a FX-8320?

  1. I'm going to say no, the FX 8320 is supported with the Bios Update F9 which is the latest. That was released one month ago and well chances are you bought a board from an older batch.

  2. The only way to know is to try. If you find it doesn't, it *shouldn't* cost you anything but time to contact Gigabyte for a swap for a board with the latest supporting BIOS on it, or option B, you can borrow/buy an older gen chip known to work such as an Athlon II/ Phenom II or Bulldozer. Although, personally, I'd make Gigabyte bear the inconvenience, this is why we have warranties.

You may find occasionally that even though the screen flashes an "unrecognized CPU error" that it is still functional enough to flash to the latest BIOS.
