Which cpu should I get?

Looking to build a gaming pc on a fairly tight budget. I hope to be recording games with a program like fraps, so I will be doing some multithreaded tasks.

Anyhow, which cpu should I get? The fx 6300 or the phenom ii x4 965 BE? I know the 6300 is the better option, but is it better enough to justify an additional 40-50 dollars? Is the phenom even capable of recording games? (In case you want to know, I'll be pairing one of these cpus with a gtx 650 ti)

Tom's Hardware did all the work. Read this:

I kind of already knew that if gaming is the only thing you have in mind, the i3 3220 is the best buy. But could it handle recording a game like BF3, or recording games in general? I've heard fraps can often keep 2 cores busy. I'd imagine that completely rules out a game like Battlefield 3 that more or less requires a quad core for optimal performance whether or not you are recording.
