Would shared VRAM help if I have a card with 1280MB?

Hello,
I'm thinking of purchasing a GTX 570 and sell my GTX 580 to a friend.
Right now, MSI Afterburner detects that Sniper Elite V2 used a max of 1312MB.
So if I got the GTX 570 with 1280MB, would that shared VRAM stop me from crashing?
Thanks.

Hi

the game shouldn't crash if your graphics card's VRAM is full, it'll just cache the textures to the system RAM or HDD, this will slow your frame rate but shouldn't crash the game.

I don't really like the idea of slowing the frame rate. :(
