Windows media player problems in windows 7

I'm trying to transfer my library files to new computer via an external hardrive.

On my new computer the transferred track titles, etc., show in my Library, but when I try to play, it says file is corrupted or damaged?

Do you have the codecs?

Did you copy paste? or are you playing off the HD? If your not sure right click a song and select open file location. If you have an odd external you will need to save it on to your pc. other than that I would say codecs as well.
