I looked up the power supply, and you have about 220W, which should be about enough to safely run a 6570 like the one posted.

I don't think you can safely put any discrete card in that system.

A 220W power supply is absolutely pitiful. That's about as small as they make them, and they do it both to cut costs and to prevent you from upgrading your computer (they make more money when you go through them for upgrades).

Putting your system specs into this PSU calculator gives me a minimum power of 178W, and a recommended of 228W. This means you're going to be maxing out the PSU pretty much at all times, which is going to stress it a great deal. Run the computer long enough (probably a few months to a year) and you're going to kill the power supply. Dying PSUs have a nasty habit of taking other components with them.

That system is nearly impossible to do any meaningful upgrades with. The eMachines are well known as some of the worst OEM computers ever made.

Sorry buddy, but any discrete video card you put in that system is going to carry a lot of risk with it. If you can replace the power supply with one about twice as powerful, that's the only way I'd ever recommend a video card upgrade.

Did a quick search on eBay and your options are really limited. Found a 250W supply, which would safely handle the 6570, but it's ludicrously expensive at $105. My top of the line, SeaSonic X650 Gold (one of the best 650W PSUs on the planet) barely cost that much. Managed to find the same PSU on another site for $80, but that's still grossly overpriced.

Looks like people are exploiting people like you who are just trying to get a bit more life out of old computers by gouging on the PSU. These PSUs should cost, at most, a third of what they're asking, probably less. 250W supplies are dirt cheap.

The only way I could see you getting a new PSU for any kind of reasonable price would require that you leave the side panel off the case and just lay the PSU on top of it. All PSUs, even these crappy oddly shaped ones like you need, use the same connectors and produce the same voltages. Almost any old PSU will plug into your motherboard and power it, the question is only of whether or not you can actually attach it to your case, which isn't strictly necessary.

But again, this is not something I'd really recommend doing. It's unsightly, and if you're careless and bump into the case while the PSU is perched precariously, it could fall into the case and cause permanent damage to your motherboard. Your computer will also be louder, may run hotter (just as likely to run cooler actually), will collect more dust, and if you have a cat...

The computer is already at close to a minimum draw. The DVD burner will pull around 25 watts when being used, and each hard drive is around 8-10 watts, and you can only improve on that by going with an SSD. Each USB device also draws a bit of power (my calculations were for 4 active USB devices).

220W is just a ridiculously low amount of power.

Yes it is because of the power supply it is using more watts then you thought. Does anyone over here know a graphics card that will use a lot less watts the the Nvidia 430 GT?

Dycegames bought the graphics card and installed it. It kept freezing as he said is their a solution to this or do you know of any other graphics card that use less watts then the GT 430?

following what ct161 said that you have to update the driver press on the power button and as soon as it lights up start hiting f12 rapidly. now click on run safe mode with networking. your computer will start. know uninstall your graphics drivers only. now it might ask you to restart so restart and go into safe mode again with networking. open your browser and download and install the drivers then restart your computer and make it start up in normal mode. see if that works. if it doesn't you will have to get a new psu like what ct161 said.

you do not need a 400w unless it's a cheap 400w unit like the cheap 220w enachine unit. that seasonic unit has 21a on its12v rail. the emachine probably has 12a (if lucky). the 12v rail powers most of a modern PC including the CPU, GPU and HDD. so that seasonic is basically twice the power of the emachine for a modern PSU. learn facts about hardware before just posting an opinion (especially when its incorrect)

We cant just guess we need real information so we dont waste anymore money for nothing. I'll start searching right know.

i won't waste your time. it's not going to happen as those games are too demanding and a card less powerful would mean the AMD 6450, hardly a gaming card for modern games. even if you got the games to launch, they would just be a slide show.

BF3 requires at least an ATI 3870
crysis 2 requires at least an ATI 3850

I have been where you are right now ..
I bought an Emachine EL1352 and then got bitten my the gaming bug.
Long story short , I went and bought an NVIDIA lowprofile 440 card thinking I'd be o.k.

I am pretty sure your internals , like the other slimline models , are configured the same as mine from the looks of it.

Do this ; open up your case and look at the PCIe slot for your card.
Is it way at the top of the case?

If so , then bear in mind , it is upside down essentially. The fan/heatsink will not fit.

I solved this buy moving everything into an old case I had laying around. It took quite a bit of creativity due to the very short wires attached to the power supply.

I Also had the 220 WATT psu. I ran the GT440 on it anyway , and ran Skyrim , Crysis2 , and EVE online at max settings.

Later on , I got a deal I couldn't refuse on a 550T TI. I took it home and it fit , although I did have to negotiate with one of my USB ports ( no biggee ) and upgrade my power. The 555 TI needs it's own power cord from the psu , and the 220 we have simply won't work even if it could magically spew out extra wattage.

So if you upgrade your psu , please do yourself a favor and get a modular. That way you can have whatever plug in type you want , when you want it. 600 Watt should suit you fine in my humble opinion.

If you are like me on this , you'll deal with it as best as you can , but never buy a slimline model ever again.

I hope that helps you solve your issue and maybe avoid some of my headaches.

well , back to dinking around on Saints row 3 o/
