I finally completed my first high end rig! Still, I couldn't help but notice that some of the names to these computer components... I just can't get over how incredibly STUPID they are! For instance, you've got things like G-Skill's memory chips called "Ripjaws." What the blazes is that supposed to mean!? I honestly can't see the distinction between RAM and the chewing of food. Equally ridiculous component names are things like Corsair's memory chips, "Vengance" and Asus's "Sabertooth" motherboards. Honestly, my problem with these names is that I feel that they think they must appeal to an immature crowd. I mean, as I was gathering the parts for my new computer, I started to feel a little immature, myself. Not because it is inherently childish, mind you. It's anything but. It is because every manufacturer seems to be in the school of thought where slapping the letter "X" on a name instantly makes it cooler. Do you know what the GTX in NVidia's graphics cards stands for? Nothing! It stands for Nothing! Honesty, this really is the same caliber as children's toys. This is just how I see it, though. What do you think?
