8 pin connector doesn't fit on my board?

I have an ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard and my power supply is an Antec Basiq 550w. The little clip (used to pull off the connectors from the motherboard) on the 8 pin connector are blocked by this little thing on my motherboard. Would it be okay to break these little clips off?

Yes, those are just dust protectors if you do not use all 8 pins.
