Hello. Recently I picked up a copy of battlefield 3. My current Nvidia GeForce 9500 GS barely runs the game. I also think it is going to crash and burn on me in the near future. So, I think it won't hurt to get a new card better for gaming.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: This week hopefully, if not it could be a month or more. I'm not interested in any of the new high end cards coming out soon, one that I could buy today will do fine.

BUDGET RANGE: $200-$300 Canadian dollars.

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Playing battlefield 3, steam games (team fortress 2, Americas army 3) general computer usage.

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: Current card is a NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GS with 512mb memory. Im not sure what the power supply is, but on the sticker it says 300W DC: OUTPUT. I can't take a picture of it (lack of camera) but if you need all the info on the sticker let me know.
OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: Direct X diagnostics should fill this bit in:

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) I don't plan on buying anything online. The information I gather here will help me make sure I'm buying the correct card at the local computer store. COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Canada

PARTS PREFERENCES: A Nvidia card.

OVERCLOCKING: No, I will not be overclocking SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No, I will not need SLI or crossfire.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1680 x 1050.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I would like a card that will play Battlefield 3 on medium to high settings with 20-30 FPS. It has to fit in my budget range. My biggest concern is that my current card is going to crash on me. I got a BSoD(Blue Screen of Death with hardware failure message. My computer reboot before I could read all of it though and it hasn't happened since), my computer fan clicks randomly, and my PC is having visual errors (black patches on my desktop, missing geometry in team fortress 2 and in Battlefield 3). If you need any more information, please ask.

Alright, that sounds good. Should I be concerned about my processor/4gb RAM? Hopefully I can find those parts at my local computer store. If not I may have to convince my dad to buy it online.

I recently upgraded from a 9800gt to a 560ti (1gb version), and what a difference. Not sure if I can actually set all settings to ultra but do have everything on high and will never go below 50fps even if I try to make it, prefer performance over eye candy.
You also need a good cpu and psu to accompany your new gpu, Im currently using an i5 2300, 16gb ram, 500w thermaltake (might need to upgrade this one soon) and an evga 560ti all stock no oc in my system. With 4gb of ram you're good.

All right, that sounds good. I just have to find one of these cards and PSU's at my hardware store, shouldn't be super hard to do. As far as making sure it fits in the case, I think it will. I will just have to move a lot of cords around. My GPU fan also started clicking again... it's so annoying. So hopefully I can get one of these cards and the PSU soon!
