Hi to all readers,

I have a question concerning the use of 2 Nvidia GPUs. I currently am using an EVGA GTX 470 as my main card in my computer. Also, I have an old EVGA GTS 250. Using a motherboard that supports SLI/ 2 GPUs, I wonder if I can plug my GTS 250 in as a dedicated physx card. I understand I cannot SLI bridge the cards, but I wonder if this could potentially bring an increase in performance in my PC. I have an 850 watt PSU which is supposed to be strong enough for SLI as well. Thanks for any help, knowledge, and advice.

Solution
yes you can plug the GTX 250 in and use it as a PhysX card. It won't perform as well as Fermi and Kepler cards but it will certainly handle hardware accelerated physics quite nicely

Do note that few games use hardware accelerated PhysX, so not all games will see an improvement, in fact most won't. Because of that I normally recommend against buying a card just for PhysX, but since you already own a second card I would go for it anyway.
