Hello, I've been away from here for a little while, so I apologize if this is in the incorrect part of the forum.

Anyways, I have this old aftermarket CPU cooler, Thermaltake's ISGC-300. I don't really have the money to currently buy a new cooler for my CPU and this one wasn't used, so I'm wondering if this cooler is actually compatible with an AM3+ motherboard socket/AM3 CPU?

I have an AMD Phenom II X4 965BE CPU and an ASRock 990FX Extreme4 motherboard.
Is it safe to mount the ISGC-300 onto the motherboard/cpu, or will it potentially damage anything by doing so? I'd really like to upgrade from the stock cooler as it's quite loud and isn't quite the best performance.

If it's not safe, should I just go with purchasing something like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO or 212 Plus or something?

I checked that and guessed it might, but I was also a little worried because it did come out some time ago, and I don't think AM3 was in full swing then. So are heatsinks/coolers/whatever really that.. compatible?
