Ok so i have been researching to no end and im not finding the results i want so im asking the people here at toms to help me out. I have a system already priced and built and the last two missing components are the cpu and gpu.

Im pretty sure the gpu will be the msi 7870 HAWK and my mobo is a niostar ta990fxe.

My question is what cpu should i combine with these for the best gaming use without going overboard on the price. NO INTEL thx.

Ive been hung up between the fx6300, x4 965 be, and the x6 1100t but im aware there not the only amd cpus.

What would toms suggest for a cpu to get the best gaming for my buck.

Intend on playing mostly the fallout series, elderscrolls series, elderscrolls online maybe and possibly swtor.

first, why NO INTEL?

biostar.... go with a different board.

the 1100T would be my choice of those three if you MUST go amd

Amd fan <- its in my blood and there all ive ever owned. My current one is a dinosaur (x3 8450) but i would like to stay with them. I havent looked much into it till recently though so im not really sure which are better for what.

My questions would be why not the biostar board? Does the price difference between the x6 1100 and the x4 965 justify the performance gain? Will the 1100t let me game on high detail high resolution?

intel is faster per clock, per core. period.

the 965 would be fine for gaming with a good overclock, but will bottleneck you later on if you want to sli or xfire.
I only recommended the 1100T cause you listed it as an option and, it is a better chip.
as far as Biostar...... it didnt gain the reputation as Biosuck for no reason. Go with an AsRock board, good quality, and not as bad on the pocket as asus or gigabyte.

Hi :)

I am a gamer and I run 1100Ts in all my gaming machines...

Its the fastest of its series and stunning....

To be honest it beats almost all of the FX later cpus as well...

Hard to find and expensive but WELL WORTH IT...

All the best Brett :)

Well depending on how much you want to spend but dont think about the old phenoms, about near imposible to find but if i were you get the fx 8320 or 8350 and get the MSI 970 motherboard.Amazing board for the price.

Alright looking into other mobos for am3+ any specific reasons why biostar boards arent a good buy?

Also the 1100t is only available in the US unfortunately and its 200$ which is not in budget for me. Would my next nest alternative be the fx6300 or a x4 965 be? Strictly for gaming wise. Aside from clock speeds is there any other differences between the 960 and 965 or
The 960/940 t versions. Is the 1045t x6 better then those for games?

Ill be getting an aftermarket cpu cooler so oc is an option

Hi :)

You can buy an 1100T anywhere in the world...there are even a few companies in the UK (where I am ) that still have them ...

The next best is the 965 BE...

Don't tell me that there isn't a i3 or i5 ivy bridge where you live.
When you want a "gaming cpu" i3 and i5>any amd cpu

Never said there was no intels. Read above. Why do people visit threads titled amd and start preaching intel? Im getting an amd cpu period. I asked for opinions on them only.

As for the 1100t i didnt see many in canada and most were 200$ + which wont work for me. I think ill look into the 965 be do some oc and that should work alright i think.

Thanks brett

Hi :)

The 965 Be overclocks well :)

And anyone who thinks an i3 can beat an 1100T , NEEDS TO CHECK THE BENCHMARKS...

All the best Brett :)

At 200$(that is the price of the 1100t) the i5 not the i3 (nobody compared the i3 with 1100t which by the way strictly on games benchmark does better) mops the floor any amd cpu, not to mention the absurd power consumption of the amd cpus.
My advice is to avoid any amd cpus like the bubonic plague.

do not get that board.
the 970 chipset from msi doesnt support sli, only xfire, and as well, comes with x16 and x4 pcie slots, which pretty much would put a damper on any futureupgrades. that asrock board i linked is great, a great price, and will last through the next upgrade.

Went with the asrock board and a 7850 gpu and 965 BE CPU.

Regardless of how much faster these intel cpu's are supposedly for games, every game i own is recommended ultra high max AA and all run smooth so i'm happy and i saved money.

thanks for all the help i appreciate it.
