Hey, I'm fairly new to this pc world. I'm planning to build my own computer.
Please could you help me find the right cpu which fits my needs?

What Will I Be Doing On My Computer?: I will mostly be using programs like,
dreamweaver, fireworks, skype, itunes and googlecrome.
I will be playing games like, rollercoaster tycoon 3, minecraft, habbo and runescape
but i will like the ability to play high end games like call of duty or skyrim.

which cpu would be the best for my needs?: I hate having sessions saying "not responding"
it's quite annoying.
I would like an i5 but i think it will just waste my money because i think i don't really need it. maybe i3, or amd fx 6300. what do you think?

Go with i3 or old amd phenom ii x4 955/965 cpu. These cpu are enough for you with HD7770 graphic card.

But stay away from new fx 6300 or any new fx cpu. They are junk and waste of money.

okay, thanks. i might go for an i3, but i'm just worrying about if there have enough core power for me. Why are they junk ? :0

Yeah, Until you start opening programs that use more that two cores.

Yeah i would go with the i3 with a ssd, as far as Dreamweaver, I have no clue, it's just a web programming correct? But you will see a reduction in fps in minecraft for sure as it is a cpu hog.

okay, thanks. so i3 will be the best for my needs? also one last thing, why is the amd fx 6300 junk and waste of money? 6 core for cheap. i dont understand?

The best processors are AMD's FX-8 with 8 cores 'bout $130 I think that is a good deal

that's good, but i dont think i need that many cores. definitely future proof ;)

Yeah go with the i3 and the fx6300 really has no place in the market.

okay, will the i3 be enough for my needs? i'm just worried if i buy it and it's not fast enough/ keeps saying not responding and takes a long time to open programs.
i recon it will be fine, i can always upgrade to an i5 3570k in a couple of years.

If you are worried about it being "future proof" i would go with the 3570k if money isn't a issue. But there really is no such thing as future proof.

No problem, and make sure to select a "best answer."

What? The 6300 is good, with the 965 BE being cheaper than the i3, whilst trading blows with it in single threaded programs. In multithreaded ones, the 965 BE wins.

majincry, so what are you saying? what shall i buy?

Go with the phenom ii x4 965be which is very good. But intel i5 will give you good result with 7950.

AMD's new cpu is waste, because they are not really that multi-core as AMD market. fx-6300 is a 3-core cpu with hyperthread like intel. The only difference is that Bulldozer provides dedicated schedulers and integer units for each thread, whereas in Intel's core all threads must compete for available execution resources.

If you install windows 8, you will see. Windows 7 dont understand fx cpu but windows 8 dose. They work like hyper thread not as a core.

oh right i see.. i might just save for the i5 3570k :L
it's ever
* amd fx 6300 (only windows 8)
* i5 3570k
*phenom II x4 965
or
* i3

The only problem is that the phenom II x4 965 seems like an old cpu, am i correct? will this still perform as well as the slightly newer ones we see today?
