I have an HP Pavilion p6277c desktop
Info about it is located in: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01892910&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4006116#N338

Its a windows 7 64 bit. It says it suports: Supports PCI Express x16 graphics card. I have no idea if thats a 1.0, 2.0 or 2.1.
I want to update the video card to one with 1gig for playing games like left 4 dead and other valve games without being so jumpy when playing.

Are cards like:

Gigabyte nVidia GeForce 210 1 GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card GV-N210D3-1GI
Sapphire Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3 HDMI/DVI-I/VGA PCI-Express Graphics Card 100292DDR3L
EVGA GeForce GT 520 1024 MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 2DVI/Mini-HDMI Graphics Card, 01G-P3-1526-KR

good enough for these types of games?

Thanks

Those are fairly week cards & maybe good only for very low resolutions. What is your monitor resolution? 1280x1024? 1366x768? 1920x1080, etc...
